Why I love the internet.

My ISP got hacked and advised everyone to change their passwords. Good advice, except the password changing software failed to recognise my password. This is the same password I needed to acess my membership details before I could be given the opportunity to change my password. This is the same password I needed to open my account so I could go to the company website to access my membership details. I emailed my ISP requesting assistance and received an automated reply advising me they need certain details before they respond to my request. The details they wanted me to send via email included my password. I didn't send them my password, that would be foolish, but they responded anyway. They sent me a new password by email with a note that it would no longer be valid if I had (somehow) changed my password after this new one had been set up. The new password did not work (mock surprise), however my old password did (actual surprise).

Cutting a long story short (and missing the reason) I gave myself a blog for Christmas... and here it is.

This may not sound like the snappiest line from 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), but it evidently caught the imagination of John Landis, who has worked references to a mythical film of this name into most of his own movies - memorably as the grotty British skinflick watched by an assortment of lycanthropes and zombies in the climax of An American Werewolf in Paris [sic] (1981). Ghastly Beyond Belief, Neil Gaiman and Kim Newman
