Awkward juxtaposition.

I am in Adelaide for work. My hotel is tall and square, so it fits seamlessly into Adelaide's CBD which is 90% tall and square 9% heritage facades and 1% churches. The people who work here usually have to phone or email me if they have a question, now they can ask me face to face. In return the people who usually can ask me face to face now have to send emails and make phonecalls. To make the experience more acute the emails are delayed by the lag caused by me logging in remotely to the Canberra server to read my email, and I don't have a phone here. Most of the questions I have answered today were from people who are visiting Adelaide for the same reason I am, somewhat defeating the purpose. One local person has asked me questions, but I think it is because she cannot understand my colleague's accent. Also, she provided her own answers in the course of asking the questions, which was nice (and solution focussed).

The public internet 60 second warning just flashed on the screen. I hope I have time to publish this...

P.S. I left my camera at home.

Don't forget to spill your wine at the bottom of the statue of Colonel Light.
and the streets are so wide everybody's inside..
Sitting in the same chairs they were sitting in last year

(This is like my town!)

All the king's horses all the king's men
Wouldn't drag me back again...

Although... Mum's promise of frequent flyer sponsored tickets might tempt me back to HomeTown sometime in August or September.

Well, so long as you're visiting on the East Coast, Miz P... (Would it help if I said you had to choose: Canberra or Adelaide?)

o, Chris.
*big sighs* @ 'not understanding accent'
(over near Dirty Water Creek, they would probably just assume by looking at your colleague that either
a) they wouldn't understand her; or
b) the information she provided would be wrong.
Because you can tell these things by looking at someone.

Yes, I do hope to Poppin.

:)

This may not sound like the snappiest line from 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968), but it evidently caught the imagination of John Landis, who has worked references to a mythical film of this name into most of his own movies - memorably as the grotty British skinflick watched by an assortment of lycanthropes and zombies in the climax of An American Werewolf in Paris [sic] (1981). Ghastly Beyond Belief, Neil Gaiman and Kim Newman
