Composing.
On my vacation I:
At work today my next script was reviewed. It was made up of nine tenths someone else's script with a single scene adapted from a second source. My main critic thoroughly dissected the stolen nine tenths and determined it to be worthy of guarded praise. He appeared ignorant of his status as original author and a victim of plagiarism. The other critics agreed with his assessment and after the review was made public my script was called a triumph by someone who hadn't read it. I resolved to seek new work.
On my vacation I:
- ceased to enjoy my current job;
- bought some dollies;
- watched a movie, or two;
- investigated income insurance;
- enrolled in an improvisation course;

This week one of my senior bosses, in front of the entire branch, mentioned that I am writing a key strategy paper that will decide policy for the next ten years or so.
This came as a bit of a surprise to me, but not nearly so much as to the person who thought she was being paid rather a large amount of money to write the paper, and had just come out of a briefing meeting with the same boss on that very subject.

Your improv course will come in mighty handy when you quit your job and come to work with me teaching in Japan. I'm really enjoying my job and have recently garnered excellent reviews for this year's lessons.

Improv looks fun, good for stand up comedy I'd imagine (I'm far too shy for that sort of thing though).
